Netherlands Summons Iranian Ambassador Over Regional Military Strikes

(MENAFN) The Dutch government on Wednesday lodged a formal protest against Iran’s ongoing military actions, summoning the Iranian ambassador following a series of strikes reported across the Gulf and other parts of the region.

According to reports, the move came after a wave of drone and missile attacks attributed to Iran targeted several countries in the broader area.

Tom Berendsen said in a post on the US social media company X’s platform that he summoned the diplomat to address "ongoing Iranian drone and missile attacks."

Dutch officials also expressed strong support for several countries affected by the strikes.

The Dutch government expressed firm solidarity with partners "including Cyprus, Türkiye and various Gulf nations targeted by the strikes."

Berendsen also denounced the attacks, describing them as indiscriminate strikes affecting civilian areas and infrastructure.

Berendsen said he "strongly condemn(s) these indiscriminate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure."

He added that the Netherlands is urging Tehran to halt the attacks without delay.

The Netherlands, he said, is calling on Iran to "immediately cease these attacks."

"We stand in solidarity with our partners," he added.
